Directions
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
2. In a large bowl, cream together 1/2 cup of unsalted butter and 1 cup of granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
3. Beat in 2 large eggs, one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated.
4. Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and mix well.
5. In a separate bowl, whisk together 1 and 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 and 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder, 1/4 teaspoon of salt, and 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon.
6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with 1/2 cup of milk. Begin and end with the dry ingredients.
7. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
8. Wash and pit 4-5 plums, then cut them into thin slices. Arrange the plum slices on top of the batter in a decorative pattern.
9. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar over the plum slices and cake batter.
10. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
11. Remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
